Tell us about your needs for online forms

by Will M on 22 Jan 2008 10:47 PM

Yes, I said FORM not FORUMS.   We have developed a form generation tool and not quite sure what to do with it just yet.  A few customers may recall a product that we offered over two years ago called Active Form Lite.  This was a basic form processor that allowed you to create any kind of form you liked, in the editor of your choice and post it on your DotNetNuke site.  This product simply sent the form details to the email address you specified.  A few months ago, we refreshed that code and Nic set out to build a true, visual form designer.  Now we have a drag-and-drop, easy to configure form builder and just need to decide what to do with it.

If we decide to release this module, it won't be available until early April.  Active Cases 3.0 and Active Forums 3.8 have to be released next.

We look forward to your feedback.

Thanks,
Will

This is already in the works. You should see this in the 1.2 release of Active Purchase.

Integration with active cases would be good as well. For example, Not all support calls require the same info from the user:

Citrix: I need server name, application, environment, time of error (for error log review), etc

Cerner: Environment, application, PC name, etc.

Printing: Printer name, IP address, etc

Have the ability to custimize an input FORM on the type of call would br FANTASTIC and make the lives of us having to support them a lot easier.

We have been looking for an online form generator that links with DNN for years and have been unable to find anything worthwhile. We have ended up using Vanguard vista online surveys which is extremely expensive.

We require the ability to add many different types of fields and add multiple pages.

    http://vista-survey.com/survey/v2/s...seonexit', '', 'width=680, height=600, toolbar=0, location=0, directories=0, status=0, menuBar=0, scrollBars=1, resizable=1'); return false;" href="http://vista-survey.com/survey/v2/survey.dsb?ID=8846823168">Click here to see a sample survey

If the form can link in with the Active CRM and Active Purchase it would make our life a lot easier.

We use a heavily modified version of Form Master from Code 5 System now. It's pretty easy for admins to setup form, etc and our mods have allowed us to pass specific form elements into a web service (the admin can create a form element called "Firstname" for example and map that into the web service called "CRM First Name".

A few things that would be nice to have?

Integration with user account and profiles (I use Dynamic Registrations now)

    Integration with ActivePurchase

Conditional changes in form (select answer 1 and present the form differently)

The ability to "page" the form for wizarnd style functionality.

    Integration with roles

    This is great feedback.

We require the ability to add many different types of fields and add multiple pages.

This is what really makes our form system unique. You just build the form to meet your needs and we take care of everything else behind scenes. You just drag-and-drop form elements on to the page and design your form. You would then specify where the form data should be stored and we take care of the rest. If you need it in a database, then we create the necessary tables for you. You just design the form.

If the form can link in with the Active CRM and Active Purchase it would make our life a lot easier.

We are actually releasing an update to Active CRM tomorrow which includes a new Lead Capture module that you can add to your site. We used a very scaled down version of our form generator as the basis for this module. You build your form based upon the fields we provide and we will then send the form data to Active CRM Lead web service. We also already planning to incorporate it in a future release of Active Purchase to let you further customize the checkout steps.

This is similar to how the new Lead Capture Module for Active CRM handles this, but instead, you don't have to map anything. Just name your form element "CRM First Name" and we match it up for you.

The ability to "page" the form for wizarnd style functionality.

We already have the wizard/multipage functionality and we are adding conditional routing to it for Active Purchase. We use this in the form builder as well.

Again, this great feedback. We could always use more.

Already in Active Cases 3.0 .  The Active Cases Client will be template based so you modify as you see fit.

I'm looking for a form that handles multiple locales in the form istself, e.g. I need to be able to localize field lables, validators, buttons, dropdowns, etc... basically everything in the form. If this would be available this would be the topseller module in europe.
