Forum tracking options in Active Forums 4.0

by Will M on 31 Aug 2008 09:15 PM

Many customers have requested a feature that would allow for a forum user to easily manage their forum subscriptions.  We also have a few other tracking features in mind that we would like to add eventually.  With that in mind we wanted to build an interface that was simple and allowed room for future options.  Click on the image below for for a better look at the new interface.

Options Include:
  • Email Subscribe/Unsubscribe
  • RSS Feed (if enabled)
  • Add to favorites
  • AddThis - Social Bookmarking

Will, this looks great, I assume that there will be mouseover details on each icon as well?

Awesome... thank you for including "add this" as I had put this in my template separately. I assume there is a way to configure it for your account?

Will - I really like this new discussion format for AF. Can you tell us more about it?

Yes. This is a token that allows you to include your AddThis username. The actual rendering script is also in a text file, so if you would rather use one of their other formats you can change that too.

I wanted to highlight some of the new layout options for AF 4.0. The BlogsView and BlogView templates will be included with the final release. Several new tokens and layout options have been added. For example, the NOPAGING token. As you can see here, there isn't a pager for the comments. Similar to a blog, this will allow you to display all the comments on the same page. In AF 4.1, the QuickReply form will also be template based which will give you even more formatting control.

Excellent stuff. I'm really impressed. I look forward to the quick reply templating as well. I also love that you're teasing us for 4.1 already.

Can we assume that AUTHORID will be on of the available tokens?

    Will, this is great!!!

Is there a way to keep the original posted pinned at the top then the most recently added comment?

This would help people to stay on topic versus commenting on other opinions.
