Active Social 1.9 - Updates for Messaging
by Will Morgenweck on 10 Jan 2011 10:38 PM
We were planning to release Active Social 1.9 this morning until we found a bug with messaging that prevented messages from being sent. As I was trying to debug the problem I found a few other issues with messaging that also needed to be addressed. A couple aspects of messaging were long overdue for an update so I decided to make some updates this afternoon. The updates are complete and now installed on activesocial.com. We will go through one more round of testing in the morning and plan to release later in the afternoon. Below are a few screen captures of the updates made to Messaging for Active Social 1.9.

This is really awesome. However, I get this error that says " Current read property "currentstyle' of null Sucess:moderated" and then screen fades and I cannot click on anything. I am using Chrome.

Looks great Will!! What happens when the number of comments increase so that the indent is going to approach the righthandside?

Right now it will just keeping getting narrow. I'll probably add some options so you can set max depth and max indent.

This is terrific (as are threaded replies).

Is there an actual blog post on this or is this thread just serving as an example of the changes? The blog post redirects to the comments only for me. But the new features I see from self discovery are pretty sweet.

Looks Great will! Does the auto-complete automatically filter out roles that you don't have permissions to send to? I want to make sure our group owners can still PM all of their group members.

Roles only appear for site admins. Only group admins will see their groups appear in the auto complete. It's pretty much all the same logic as before, but just with an improved UI.

FYI... I'm aware that there are issues with this comment box for moderated users. If you encounter a problem just refresh the page. This comment view on my blog is not part of Active Forums at this time. If you want to learn more about how it came about you might want to read my previous blog.

I have looked at previous Blog posts and I don't see any of them any more. All I can see is the Comments section for each blog post. The actual post is missing. That is what I was referring to in my earlier comment.

Funny thing, I can see the blog post when I am not logged in but when I log in it disappears.

I'm with Cliff - the blog post itself is not visible to me, all I see is a bunch of comments. Using FireFox. It is no just this blog post - all of them are like this for me. Ones with no comments are just a blank page with the "Leave a Comment" box.

I turned off the custom replies control. Hopefully everyone can read the blogs again. I'm not quite sure what was happening and why it wasn't happening for everyone.

If it helps any, on top of not being able to see the blog post itself, it also was not taking my comment - I was getting an error message - 2 different ones i believe. I tried posting a new comment as well as replying to cliff's (?) comment. I assume since you got the one, you probably deleted all the other attempts.
I tried logging out and logging back in, and also forcing refresh. nothing changed.
I also am getting a slow page refresh sometimes- when coming back to this blog post just now the page was blank except for cliff's profile picture in the top left corner of the screen - clicked refresh and the page came up.
