Hi Guys,

Please point me to a comprehensive "how to" on linking Ventrian News Articles to Active Social.


I used the documentation over at Ventrian.com:-

It basically just shows clicking on the two boxes for "Articles"



I did that.

I tried entering a new journal type. Do I have to call it anything specific? If I dont call it something specific... how does it "know" to link back to VNA? I tried Generating access keys... and it generates them... but again - how is it linked... becuase I can enter new articles...publish them.. approve them... and they dont show up?




I also enabled the third party settings in the VNA module. I had a social Key number in the field... but I cant remember if this was autogenerated... or if I found it somewhere (About... email with my purchase...etc).

Anyway... very frustrating few days.

Martin sorry to hear that you are struggling with this. I did have VNA on my site but then I decided to go with digArticle from www.dignuke.com. It sounds like you are really close to getting this done.

I do have a video on my AS integration for digContest. It is about 15 minutes and shows the process for integration. It is on my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/forerunnercomm.

I still have a copy of VNA and I looked at it and I do see three AS keys for the Article submission, rating and commenting. You should be able to look back into the Journal settings and see if the key for Submission matches up with your key in VNA.

Do you have access to the db? If so you can look into the activesocial_Journal table to see if anything is being written. If not then you have something wrong. If it is being written but not displayed then it could be a journal template issue.

Thanks so much for your input. I tried hard with VNA... but could find no combination of settings that would have the News article show up in the Active Social Journal.

I downloaded the 15 day trial of digArticle. I have had immediate results When I got ot gignuke-Admin-settings-3rd party - there is a drop down box for security.

Three settings:-

Friends
Everyone
Community

When I select "Everyone" , the article is published to the AS Journal - Yay!

Thing is, I can imagine publishing every single story to everyones journal will not be that "readable" - and I suspect only publishing friends articles to the journal is a better way to go. When I select "Friends" ... it no longer publishes Any ideas?
