I thought that the vanity url was taken from the display name, however I just change the display name of a user and the vanity name stayed the same, does the vanity url come from the username?

The vanity name is based on the display name, but is actually stored in the activesocial_User table. It doesn't change automatically when the display name changes. There are several reasons for this which have been discussed in the forums previously. We are adding more options for handling the vanity name value soon.

ok thanks, well that seems like a good solution, I like that much better than the user url just changing at the will of the user, at anytime, have not given much thought to exactly how I want it to behave, but I know I don't want users changing their profile url.
