I just setup my first feed and it works except that I am getting duplicate journals for each feed item. They appear fine in the raw feed.

I set up the feed in the control panel.

    Anyone see this?

    Thanks

What is the feed address (if its public), and what type of feed did you import it as? (site, profile, group)

    Hi Ben

Here is the feed: http://lisascala.blogspot.com/ (its public)

I set it up as a profile and associated the user to it.

I couldn't get the address you sent to work, but I imported a similar one: http://lisascala.blogspot.com/feeds...ts/default and it worked correctly.

Perhaps it was the address you were using. Try adding a known-working RSS such as http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_world.rss to a test user's profile.

Ben - my mistake - the url that you used was the correct one and it's also the one that I have in the feed in AS. The feed works but it duplicate journals for each feed item. The feed itself doesn't have duplicates.

    see here : http://www.rheebo.com/Home/SocialSt...fault.aspx

Also, how come quotes and ampersands etc don't translate. they show up in titles and journals as markup. you can see this in the link above

    Thanks for the help!!!!

How would you recommend I delete the duplicates.

Well, you can manually delete the entries by clicking the red X on each duplicate entry. The only way to delete multiple things would be by using a SQL query, which I don't suggest.

Have you tried importing that CNN rss feed? I am thinking that maybe when you imported the first one, you accidentally clicked the button twice, or maybe it timed out and got added twice some how.

You can delete the feed from the control panel, without removing the items from the journal. So you might want to try deleting all the feeds, and adding it again. (Assuming the CNN test feed works correctly.)

Thanks Ben - I will try the cnn feed on a test user to be sure. There are 2 tables that have a journalid journalsecurity and journal. If I delete the duplicate journals manually does it matter that there are entries in the security table.

let you know what I find

last question and it has to do with quotes and ampersands etc. How come they do not translate in the journal and in other places in AS?

I highly suggest you just manually delete all the duplicate entries by clicking the red X in the journal. It make take a bit longer now, but saves the time of accidentally corrupting something in the database.

The issue with the encoded characters is a known issue that will be resolved as quickly as possible. http://www.activemodules.com/activesocial/task-tracker/encoding-issue-with-imported-feeds/
