    Hi Everyone,

I have activated the RSS feeds in AS 1.4.1 & DNN522. In the scheduler I notice there is a task to update the feeds every two minutes. The testfeed that I have added is not shown to the user.

The moderation for the feeds is activated but I don't receive any mails for moderation.
Roles were set but currently no more to avoid problems with the testing.

    Anyone any thoughts?

    Regards,

    Marc,

There are know issues with the RSS feeds. I have a ticket in for that right now and was told that they were aware and are working on the fix. Maybe it will be working correctly in 1.5?

This only happens when creating the rss feed in the control panel. If you create the rss feed from the profile or group it will work just fine.

    Will,

I was having a problem with feeds updating even when created from a profile or group.  Ben said that he confirmed the problems and would update my ticket when he found something out.  The feed would import but never seem to update.  TKT10021221468

At the time you created that ticket we didn't have the scheduler setup as part of the install. The last update should have taken care of that for you. ActiveSocial.com has several feeds running without problems. The only issue I'm aware of is when the feed is created from the control panel.

Make sure the schedule task is running. You may have to stop and restart it.

That was actually a different ticket.  I created a new one for the 1.4.1 realease where I was actually seeing an error in the scheduler history.  I will try it again though... You can reference ticket TKT10021221468 to see the error I was seeing and Ben's response.  Not trying to be a pain or anything

    Will,

I tested  importing a feed from a group again and I'm getting the same error in the scheduler history as described in my ticket.  It acually imports the feed ok when I first do the import, but seems to have trouble updating.

I can't recall anymore how I added this so to be sure I will do this once more from the profile page. I'll let you know how it works out.

I have re-entered a rss feed and it shows without any problem. The funny thing with the previous added rss feed is that it required authentication (and this was not entered). It is confusing that the feed is considered a healthy one and therefore this was overlooked at first.

Could you please consider such a feed as a failed feed so that it stands out that some action is required?

    Thanks in advance.

I must be missing something here, when I go to the group page the only import option I see is the "one-time" import, I don't see anything about creating a feed in the group menus.

The same over here. I have it checked in the journal section and can't add a feed like on the profile page. It is working quite nicely for me on the profile page now.

I'm going to have to do more testing when I get home, I just looked through every one of my profile pages and there is no option there either. The only place I can see to create a feed is in the control panel. Could be a skin issue (had problems with other views), I'll test it out more later.

Here is the error that I get in the scheduler history:

    Active.Modules.Social.Tasks.FeedTask,Active.Modules.Social
RSS Import Failed. System.IndexOutOfRangeException: OwnerName at System.Data.ProviderBase.FieldNameLookup.GetOrdinal(String fieldName) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.GetOrdinal(String name) at Active.Modules.Social.Extensions.Feeds.FillFeedInfo(IDataRecord dr) at Active.Modules.Social.Extensions.Feeds.Feeds_Scheduler() at Active.Modules.Social.Tasks.FeedTask.GetFeeds() at Active.Modules.Social.Tasks.FeedTask.DoWork()

I thought there might be a problem with dnn and the scheduler, but I installed a news article module from OnyakTech that can import RSS feeds and it has no difficulty updating the feed with no errors in the scheduler.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

This error is caused by one or more of the following:
    1) Created the feed from the group as an Admin or Host and not the Group Owner.
    2) The Group Owner has changed since the feed was imported.
    3) The feed was created in the control panel and the owner was not set properly.

Found it! Helps when you read the documentation... Duh! Didn't realize the existing import was changed to a two-step process.
