Under the Group settings for "Who can create a group", I have SocialGroup_Member selected. However, members don't see the "Create Group" option on the Groups page. When I look at the SocialGroup_Member Role, it hasn't been assigned to anyone. So that kinda explains why the option isn't visible.

So how are members supposed to be assigned the SocialGroup_Member Role?

SocialGroup_Member is used as a template for your forum security options. It is never used and members are never added to it. When a new group is created.

You should use the registered users role or the role you have setup under the community role section. Users will then be able to create groups.
