I set up a number of categories,  specified group and event and then tried to add a subcategory but it would not save until I put a priority value in. Then it would save. Then, if I edit a subcategory and remove the priority, it saves but then the siubcaegory no longer shows up.

Then - when creating an event, if I select certain categories, the event won't save.  The category is there in the list???

    Anyone else seeing this?

I can not reproduce this. I was able to create a group child category, and an event child category, while leaving the priority value set to 0. I was able to create an event using the newly created event category.

Are you getting any errors in the event viewer?

Ok now add a sub category and you will notice that it will not take without a priority. If you add a priority and then go back and edit the record, set the priority to 0, it deletes the subcategory.

I just added a category called fundraiser set for groups and events, went to events selected the category fundraiser and the event will not save. If I select another category, it saves.

If you need admin access to see this let me know

When you say "sub category" you mean the same thing as child category, right?

If so, I still can not reproduce this.

I created a new category called Fundraiser, and set it as an events category.

Then I created a new child category with Fundraiser as the parent.

    Saved, with no priority set.

The only weirdness I encountered happened here. I had to restart the application from the host settings menu in order for the new category to display in the Events drop down list.

I was able to save this event with no problem.

I checked the log and there is nothing there. I also went back to categories and attempted to add a child category for Business called networking with no priority and there was a javascript error on the page and nothing happened. I added a priority and the record saved. If I go back into the record and change the priority to 0 the child category was deleted. In all scenarios, I specified the category to be assigned to both groups and events.

Not sure if this will do anything, but whenever someone has a javascript error in the control panel, I suggest that they change the "admin" skin back to the default DNN skin, MinimalExtropy.

And just to clarify, you are setting the priority to 0 (the default value) when you first try to create a category, correct?

    Hi Ben

I checked the category table in the database and there were a bunch of duplicate entries. Not sure what happended or when, but I deleted everything but the top level categories, set all priorities to 0, deleted the duplicates and it seems that things are working now. Could there be a problem when a category gets deleted? I did delete all of my categories and then recreated them a while back.

Thanks for checking this. I did initially change the skin right away and that did not help.
