    • DotNetNuke Version: 5.6.2
    AS 1.1 and DNN 5.6.3

I Can't upload profile pic through DNN user profile. I have to go into the user's AS profile (as admin) and then click on their 'Edit Profile' and then I can upload their picture that way. This changed after I upgraded from 4.9.5 to 5.6.3.

Like from here /MyProfile/tabid/88/asv/profileedit/aspeid/2364/Default.aspx is the only place I can change the photo.

Anyone have any ideas on what is up?

Also, why is this forum moderated for people with loads of posts? What is the point of that?

    thanks,

    Will

I am not sure if the AS Profile Picture was designed to work with the DNN profile editor. The AS Profile Picture was added before DNN even had it's own profile picture. I see the same behavior as you though. Is there a reason why you want to use the DNN Profile editor instead of the AS editor?

In our community (www.mofga.net) we import all the new certified organic farms every month. So we go through and add logos/photos for their profile pic to make their profile a bit more lush. There is also often other 'stuff' to add (their Facebook, store, description - about me, from their website, etc.) so we are in the DNN profile section doing all this and we have always just uploaded the pic at that time there and going through AS is another step that I would rather not do.

    thanks,

Wouldn't it screw things up as far as AS profile pics etc. if you chose 'Image' here rather than asProfilePicture to 'Image' in the dropdown?

FWIW...if you look in the database the value stored in this profile property is just a reference to the profile image name (pp_33.png) which "lives" in the folder: C:\inetpub\www/yourDNNsite\Portals\0\activesocial\profiles\_icons where 33 is teh DNN user id. Also in the folder are the various sizes fro the profile pics pp_33_50_50.png, pp_33_150_150.png, etc.

Theoretically you could write something that resizes the photo, names them and places them in the correct directory and adds the data to the UserProfile table.

Ben, any plans to change this so it's more accessible from other registration modules and/or core DNN? Perhaps by 6.1?

Now I am getting an error when trying to add a profile pic even through the AS edit profile of the user or the DNN profile editor. I tried in IE and FF. And with different profiles. Odd that I was doing it yesterday and now can't - I did not change anything as far as upgrades, etc.

    I am on AS 1.1 - thanks

I figured out that what was causing this issue was that this profile did not have an email address. We need to import new farms into the community (www.mofga.net) using Dynamic Import. Most have email addresses but not all. So if you go in and put any validly formed email in their DNN profile it will save the profile pic through AS but still have not figured out why not through DNN profile.

    thanks
