Is it possible to sort or filter group lists by a custom group property?

This is not currently possible.

You can filter by group category or group type though.

Can I select a single group by group ID?

You could make a new group type, and only add that group to the type.

Or if you are only showing a single group for some specific reason, you could create a custom view. Or just link directly to that groups details page.
