    • Active Social Version: 1.8.2
    • DotNetNuke Version: 5.5.0
    I have set up Auto Friend and Auto Group in the members control panel but whenever a new members signs up they are not automatically added as a friend or as amember of the group.

    I am using the AS signup and login forms.

    Is there some other settings that need to be applied to make this work

    Max,
    The auto friend and auto group will only execute when a user verifies their account or immediately after registration if verification is disabled. One issue that has come up in the past is related to timezone settings and the Effective date of the Registered Users and Community role. If those dates are not the same as your portal then the auto friend and group will not execute either.

    any update on this and Will what do you mean by the "Effective date of the Registered Users and Community role." where would I verify if there is a date issue?

    Erland,

    The effective date problem happens when the timezone settings on your portal are incorrect to the extent that users are not technically added to roles until an hour (or longer) after the register.

    To verify if you have this problem, create a new user then go to Admin -> User Accounts and view that users roles. If the effective date is in the past, or blank, then it is fine.

    Other than this issue, make sure you are using the Active Social Sign-Up view to register the users, and you are not getting any errors in the event viewer.

    I setup to have new members be auto friended to me. I have a new user and she verified her account yesterday but she was not auto friended to me. Is there anything I can look for to make this work? I am on the latest AS/AF/DNN. This is a pretty important feature. I am about to test out Auto Group and see if that works.

    OK. I setup a new group and set it to be Auto Grouped by members. I created a new member account and it worked. That's great.

    So now if I could get some feedback on if the auto friend is working for anyone or if not is it something that is going to be fixed. It is obviously a pretty important feature. Thanks for any information you can provide.

    OK. So I just created two new test members and apparently both of them were auto friended to me, which is what is supposed to happen. I used test email addresses and found the auto friend and auto group both worked after I verified the accounts.

    I have no idea why the last two members before these two were not auto friended after they verified their address. I need to figure out if there is any variability in how a person can verify their account that could be responsible for auto friending not working.

    Any ideas? Or has anyone experienced any variability in the auto friending only working sometimes?
