Twitter Integration
17 May 2009 12:44 PM
Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). Learn more by visiting Twitter.

When you enable Twitter integration, your members will have the option to have their status updates sent to their twitter account.

The settings for Twitter integration are located in the Active Social Control Panel under the Journal section.  When "Status" is enabled the icon for advanced properties will be displayed.  Click the icon to open the Twitter settings panel.  Twitter integration can be restricted by roles. It isn't necessary to select any roles if Twitter integration will be available to all users.  Otherwise, select the roles that will have access and click the "Add" button.

Twitter limits all messages to 140 characters or less.  It is recommended that the max number of characters remain 140 when Twitter integration is enabled.

Twitter integration is only enabled for profiles with Active Social 1.1.  The option to enable Twitter for Groups is present in the control panel, but not currently implemented.
