Replying to a message creates a new message thread
02 Jun 2009 12:07 AM
Active Social 1.1 allows site administrators and group owners to send messages to members of a specific role or group. When a user replies to a message that was sent to a specific group or role, a new message will be created for the recipient and the original sender. This ensures that the original recipient list is not disclosed and that the reply and any subsequent replies are kept private to the sender and recipient.
Bulk messages that were sent to members of a role prior to Active Social 1.1 will not have the same behavior. We recommend that messages sent in bulk prior to Active Social 1.1 be deleted from the database in order to ensure privacy and proper database integrity. When a user replies to a message that was sent in bulk prior to Active Social 1.1, the reply will be sent to all original recipients. It is also very likely that when any user replies, the original message will be removed from the inbox of all original recipients.
Please contact Active Modules Support if you need assistance removing older messages from your database.
