Global Group Settings

    You must configure the Global Group Settings before any users will be able to create groups on your site. This menu is located in the Groups page of the Active Social control panel.

    Public Permission Defaults – This setting selects whether unauthenticated users can see the list of groups or not. If you choose "No", users will need to create an account before they view groups. If you choose "Yes", all users will be able to view groups that are not marked as private.

    Global Group Moderators – Use the dropdown to select a role. Any user in this role will automatically become a moderator for all groups on the site. Global Group Moderators can create groups, approve new groups, remove groups, mange group membership and group settings.

    Who Can Create Groups – Select a role, members of this role will be allowed to create groups. If you wish to allow all users to create groups, simple choose “Registered Users” in the dropdown.

    Do Groups Require Approval – Enabling this option will require an admin to approve a group before it shows up in the list.

    Add Group Members to a Role – This option will create a unique role every time a group is created. Members of the group will automatically be added to this role. You can use the role in other modules or other portions of your site.

    Can a Group Have a Picture or Logo – Enabling this settings allows group moderators to specify an image for their group.

    Can a Groups Have a Discussion Forum – To enable this setting you need to add two roles to a forum group in Active Forums. If you have not added the roles, then the drop down will simply appear blank and you will not be able to save your settings. After you have chosen the forum group, you can select it from the list. Groups will now be able to have discussion forums.
