The social stream is a view that will show a user all the activity on the site. It can be filtered to show particular types of data from other users. At a glance the user can see what all of their friends have been doing on the site. They can keep track of active and new forum topics and view recently uploaded images.
It functions very similarly to the journal, allowing comments and showing who posted and when.
You can control what appears on the site summary by checking the boxes on the journal tab of the control panel.
The journal tools can be enabled on the summary page by checking the Show Journal Tools box in the social view settings.
