Global Group Creation Options
- Who can create groups? These are the roles allowed to create groups.
- Do groups require approval? Group creation moderation. Site administrators will have to approve each group using the Control Panel groups tab before members can join the group.
- Add group members to a role? Enabling this option will create a custom role for each group. This role can be used to control activity in the group and other parts of the site, including the forums.
- Can a group have a picture or a logo? Allows the group to set an image for their group.
- Can a group have a discussion forum? Determines if the group can create a forum to host discussions. The drop down box will allow you to choose which module and forum group you want the new forum to appear under. The group here is referring to Active Forums forum groups, not social groups. It is suggested that you create a new group or new instance of Active Forums to house all your social group forums. This will create less confusion and allow you to moderate and maintain more easily.
- Group Types – Creating different group types allows you to have groups that serve different purposes on your site. For example if you want groups that are only available to certain users, and you need the groups to have special features or properties that the regular groups do not have, you could create a new "Special" group type.
