Control Panel - Settings
21 Sep 2010 02:14 PM
- Default Theme – This option allows you to change the look and feel of your module. The _activesocial theme is compatible with all websites and has a very basic look. The empty theme does not have any customized styles and allows you to take full control of the colors. It will require a lot of customization, so we suggest that you try the _activesocial skin first.
- Define Social Pages – This feature allows you to control the layout of your network. You can customize how the module instances interact. The options in the drop down menus are pages where an Active Social module exists. These settings are required to use the corresponding views.
-
Default Image Options – This allows you to select the type and size of images that users will be able to upload.
- Image Resizing Options allow you to control the automatic resizing capabilities of Active Social. If you choose to keep the original large size images, they will still be resized to meet the maximum image size.
- Image Conversion Options allow you to choose your image quality and size preferences. The JPEG options will use the least amount of disk space, but does not support transparent images. PNG images will be higher quality, use more disk space and support transparency.
- HTML Options – The three radio buttons control html input for different areas. Groups and profiles refer to the editors used to enter biography information. The messaging editor is used to compose private messages. Changing the height and width will change the size of the editor's input box.
-
Other Options – This section contains miscellaneous settings.
-
Messaging:
- Enable Popup Notification - Check the box to enable a small pop up every time there is a new message or notification in your private messaging inbox.
- Check for messages every - You can set how often the system checks for new messages. The minimum value is two minutes. The pop-up will only be displayed if you have added the Active Social message center to your site.
- Wait time between messages – This setting controls the number of seconds a user must wait before they can send another private message. Set it higher to prevent spamming.
- Messaging Auto Complete – Enabled by default. This option allows you to turn off the feature that auto-suggests recipients when composing a private message.
- Auto Complete Filter - The default, friends only, allows users to only message other users they are friends with. Changing this setting to All Users will allow users to send messages to any other member on the site. The individual users are able to restrict who can send the messages.
- User Default Availability – Changing this setting will change the types of users new profiles will accept messages from. The user can change this setting on their profile after it is created.
- Enable attachments – Enabling this setting will allow users to attach files and documents to their private messages.
- Maximum Attachment size – This is the maximum number of kilobytes that can be attached to a private message.
- Allowed file types – This list restricts the types of files that can be attached to a private message.
- Site Address - The Site Address allows you to specify the primary internet address for your site. For example, http://www.activemodules.com would be the default site address for Active Modules, Inc. This will resolve issues with malformed links in outgoing emails. Make sure you include the http://. This setting is required.
- Reply to Email Address - You can specify a "noreply" email address that will be used for the "From" address when sending email notifications to users. If you leave this field blank then the email address associated with your administrator account will be used.
- Vanity URL Options – To enable this setting, you must make a change to the web.config file. There is separate documentation available in the community forums on www.activemodules.com.
-
Gallery Storage Options
- File System – The default setting. This will store all the files and photos on your server's primary storage.
- Amazon S3 - Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) is an online storage web service offered by Amazon Web Services. Entering your S3 account settings here will store the files on your S3 storage.
- Additional Settings – Editing the number here allows you to change how many items appear per page. This will affect the Members List, Groups List, and Journal.
