What is Categories in Control Panel Design Tab? Is it somtthing similar to Group Type? I am trying to understand what is it used for.

Thanks Will. I read those posts and it helps me to learn how to set it up but I am not very clear which one to use when that is what I need to understand.

Also with categories I am having an issue with Social View settings. If I use category toekn that filters Groups as expected but on the Social Vier Settings if change the Group Category from -1 to 1  it still shows all the groups. I have created a Category and went to Control panel and assigned Category 1 to it. I have also setup types and types work just fine.

Could this be a skin related issue or am I doing somehting wrong.

CategoryId under socialview settings isn't implemented yet. That's why in one of the links I provided earlier it shows how to set it up with a custom view.

Thanks Will I undestand now. Once the category works in Social View Settings in combination with Type that will be pretty slick. Is that going to be fixed in 1.5 or 1.6?
