The latest version of the "Templates Tokens & Styles Guide" I see is 1.3. Has anything changed between then and the current, 1.8.2., version?

I'm having a lot of problems trying to create custom views and I'm not sure I understand the difference between a custom view and a template.

    Hi Scott,
The biggest change has been the addition of the template editor. You may want to review this article:
    http://www.activemodules.com/active...el-design/

Templates have a predefined purpose. For example, the ProfileView template will always be used for parsing Profile related tokens and controls. From a developer perspective, think of a ProfileView as an asp.net user control. We allow you to change the HTML but what goes on behind the scenes will always be the same. A custom view allows you to create your own control. A custom view is a dynamic asp.net user control that is parsed by .NET on the fly. This gives you the ability to load your own controls or combine multiple Active Social controls. It's not exactly like an ascx file because we have some security restrictions, but it is pretty close.
