I created a custom Active Social control yesterday to display license keys within a profile tab.  It's a custom asp.net server control which simply renders html based upon a database query.  I want to show an example of how this can be done, but with less sensitive information. 

Post some ideas of what you would like to see.  We will create the control and make it available to everyone along with the source code.  Try and keep it relatively simple please .  At a minimum, the control should have some relevance to the user profile.  It doesn't have to be viewable by the user, but must be related by UserId.  Keep in mind that the tabs on the profile view can be secured with the following options:

1. Public - All users can view.
2. Private - User and Admin can view
3. Admin - Only admin can view.

How about "My Links"....something that allows users to save a links to their favorite websites. That would cover the integration into AS, UI, Database CRUD operations, etc but is a very benign application and is small enough to serve as a tutorial.

Newest users (top five)
Newest Groups (top five)

Would be my suggestion   That'll give me a start on modifying the DNN Events and other modules that I want seamlessly pair / appear to integrate into AS features.

Public Role - "Top 5 Forums I'm most active in"

Or... perhaps...  A list of the number of posts that user has in each forum.

I like the idea of adding:

Newest Users (Top 5), or let the user pull a list for but draw a line at some number for the query.

Maybe take a DNN application like Blogs, and rather than put in an RSS feed, you take a bigger approach and do the Calendar, Categories, and posts a user has done.

i.e.  3rd party integration!  :-)

This is almost done already. Just need to do some more testing.

I'm leaning towards the "My Documents" concept or "My Downloads" which can be secured.

It would be great if the what's new module of AF could be included with a filter on the userid and have that placed on a tab!! Then we can filter out the blogs from the blog template, files from an upload forum (and whatever you may think of).

This way we can offer MyDocuments & MyBlogs.

I have often seen users of AF suggest that they would like to mark a thread to track without actually posting to that thread. Is there a way in AF to do that now? If not it would take a change to AF and I think the My Topics would work.

How about integration with Google maps to show My Location, geo-coded from user's/group's registered address?

I like the idea, however I would settle for country. For privacy reasons I would not want to go to a registered address. This may be attractive to businesses but might scare off individuals.

But that's just my opinion of course.

Complete integration with Bizmodules.net modules will be very great! But, I wonder how it is possible when My Profile and User Profile pages are one and the same. But then you are the genius not me.

The BizModule and New Articles satellite modules have profile integration built in you simply need to set the parameter to asuid.

I agree with you that it can be done. But the problem with this is that you get empty modules when users not in a role in which they are allowed to upload either videos and/or images.

I'd rather have them integrated in the AS module instead of having to add multiple modules surrounding AS. This way it creates a 'cleaner' view of the site.

Fatgeorge is on the right track. integrating articles, videos, photos and any custom developed module is critical. Using AS as a platform where we can plug in modules as needed is huge. Marc I think you are right also in that it would be important to show integrated modules within the framework of AS and not surrounding it.

I found this community site (http://aussiez.com/). If AS could have these "Most viewed", "Latest" etc. like a module in the mainpage (frontpage), this could be nice.
These beside blog, photogallery and video integration. Then AS would be very strong community/social module.

I would like to suggest a few tabs for the profile in addition to: Activity, Friends, Groups, My Topics

The first one would be (for me) called My Products (or My Services). During sign up a farm could pick from radio buttons the products they sell from their farm. So that tab could be searchable on its own as in 'Looking for xxxx from a farm in xxxx county.' You can imagine this being useful for services as well. In my case the 'services' tab would contain things like logging, blacksmith, garden plowing, etc. but you can imagine that if it were a site of musicians or programmers or whatever the 'Products/Services' tab would have other content.

The next would be Links, Files, Photos, Videos, Music. Store would be great too if that would link in with Active Purchase as you mention above. If they were empty they would not display.

For Links and Files using the same system you already have in the journal is really cool but they might need a way to organize/order them.

For Photos, Videos, Music perhaps one media module that you choose what the instance is (vids, music, photos) and then be able to force outside hosting for the media files.

I also think the 'write' function could be lost and just have the 'write note' function with title stay.

Another (hopefully) small request is that for the 'About Me' section which pulls from the DNN biography, if it could have a "...more" link to expand it after a preset limit (like 250 characters). I imagine people rambling there and eating up that valuable real estate on their profile. Just limit it to 2 lines that can be expanded with ...more

I vote for a "my downloads" control, where is document is downloadable based on user or user's role.
