Hi, has anyone at ActiveModules done any research in to the recent Facebook patent that was awarded? Does implementing your (awesome) set of components put a web site in violation of this patent? Here's a quick link to some info: http://mashable.com/2010/02/25/face...ed-patent/ Thanks!

Absolutely. As the mashable article states, the focus is on the technology of the dynamic feed. We have also researched how they can make it so dynamic and flexible. Long story short, while the Active Social journal appears to be a similar concept, we had to build the journal to work in the environment of our target market. Facebook isn't running on 2-3 server web farm or a shared hosting environment. We will continue to monitor how the patent is enforced and if it applies to us.

If you really want to get nervous about patents then take a look at this company...

Hi Will, I am unfortunately very familiar with the problems faced by patents.. I'll tell you the story sometime. I'm thinking of launching a social network site for tennis, and want to use activeSocial, just thought I would ask about this.. thanks again!
