I have not tried that one but the demo looks very similar to the Netism map which is very easy to use - this is the one I recommend - http://www.pokerdiy.com/find-by-map.aspx - has anyone tried them both? |

Thanks Rodney. I use Google maps for my contact module (lists their address and has a 'Map and Directions' link that serves up Google Map). While not an expert I have spent time with Google and also would rather not have 2 formats on the site. We will give the BizLocater a try and post results. Will |

I know what you mean - I originally prefered Google Maps over Bing... (now I am not too fussed) - however, Tin Lam says a release is coming in the next few weeks with Google Maps support - my main requirement in a module developer is their support and product update frequency - he has both |

I am currently using PROPERTY MAP for my Ventrian Properties, but I want to use Google Maps instead of BING. Govt networks dont allow BING to be authorized, so its sort of pointless to my customers, if the maps dont display. Google maps work though. I am working on a lot of new things right now, but as you I will wait for the google support. |

Tin Lam says a release is coming in the next few weeks with Google Maps Yes I emailed him and he said 2 weeks for this. I am leaning toward Netism mainly because some of you have experience with it and it has tons of good reviews, and 317 mentions on dnn.com. Bizlocator has 0 of each. thanks |

Latest release still does not have Google support http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=17920 It also looks like Bizlocator is muerto as their demo went to this page: http://simpleeclick.com/ I emailed Tin again - perhaps if he heard from more of us that want this feature it would speed things along. There is an email address in that Snowcovered page. thanks, Will |

I have been doing quite a bit of work with the Netism Map Extreme module of late and had some very interesting discussions with the Netism guys. Quite a bit of which ended up in the latest release. I chatted with Tin about a week ago and he assured me that the Google map option was still on the cards but was several weeks away from a release. Watch this space. |

hi guys, this is tin from netism solutions, maker of map extreme. i like to thank you all of your, i know it's a long wait. but we haven't not been idling, we spoke to many different customers to better understand their needs, watched very closely on the windows/.net/dnn technologies, the snowcovered/maket place, as well as expanding our staff to take on more development and support. right now, we are still working to stabilize the google map support.
then we will be adding new features again, like: - auto/background geocoding - driving/walking/biking/transit directions - free-form polygons drawing, and using them to bound searching areas - user-specific locations, so users can only add/display their own locations - javascript eventing api, so you can intercept calls on pre/post searching, map display and results rendering etc - better search functions
all of the above would be added to both google maps and bing maps.
if you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me: map netismsolutons com.
thanks again! |

Hi Tin, Sounds good! One thing I need is the ability to expose the Map data with a webservice - I am writing a Silverlight and iPhone client that will have a Bing Map control on and I want to take in a location, hit a webservice on PokerDIY and return a set of points on the client to map - is this currently possible and can you give any tips on this? |

Sheesh. Why not plot you location and the location of others from SPACE!??! Oh wait....YOU ARE! Sounds like rocket science to me. |

Just purchased netism product and excited about it but the docs are indeed lacking. I am wondering if anyone would share a few quick steps to show a set of users on the map? Seems like it should be pretty easy...but I just cant seem to click the right combination of buttons. |

Dan, you need to geocode your user records first. then you simply write a sql query to pull back the relevant user information including the lat & lon to allow the map module to display them. See http://www.fatgeorge.co.uk/Community.aspx for examples of AS users and groups displayed on the Netism map. If you register and supply some address info then wait approx 5 mins your user profile will be geocoded and you might see some results in the proximity lists also.(it depends on your location and the proximity options in your profile, the default is a 500 mile radius.) have fun. |

I own an older version of Netism Map Extreme and am getting ready to buy the newest version. I do think that Tin needs to invest just a little time into the docs and he REALLY needs some support forums of his own. Being able to search Map Extreme specific forums for answers would add a lot of value to the module. |

Thank you sir! So do i need to 're-geocode' every so often as new users get in? If so, how do you do that?
I am using the fatgeorge Geo-Coder, it is set to run every 5 mins and geocodes each record (user profile or group) where the datetime stamp has changed since the geo-coder job last ran. |

I really am trying to find time to write up some articles on the use of my geo-coder with Map Extreme. I'll let you know when I have something. |

Netism seems almost unusable. I would not mind if poking and digging around if it was a less expensive module but for that price everyone should expect more documentation, even BASIC documentation would help. I will most likely be asking for a refund. Thanks for everyones help. |

I totally agree with you on your assessment. I can't get a response from them on Snowcovered through the help system, there is no email for Netism on their site, that I could find, all attempt to contact them here, have gone unanswered and all I'm looking for is the Ajax map kit that was suppose to come with my download, but didn't. I'm happy with the geocoder I got from Fatgeorge, but Netism's support is simply non-existent.

I know that the documentation is out of date, but if you are looking for a real mapping solution for your site then this is the best module. If you need help in achieving whatever it is you need for your site the drop me a line support AT fatgeorge.co.uk. If it's simple then I am happy to help, if it's more complicated then I may need to charge for the time involved. |
