For some reason I can't send messages or add friends from the Members List. Is there a setting that I need to check? I have checked all of the settings; perhaps I am missing something.
Thank you for your help!

Make sure you are not logged in as a super user account, and that your account is part of the Member and Community roles specified on the Member page of the control panel. |

Try it with a different account? Did you modify the templates? Did it used to work, and now it does not? If so, did you change any settings recently? |

I tried a different account and it does not work. It had worked before but I have not used the module on the website in some time. I reloaded the active social module and it still does not work. |

Can you see the add friend and send message links and they just don't do anything? Or are they missing completely. |

Try setting the page skin to the DNN default. Also, are you getting any javascript errors on the page when you click a link? |

I just got into the website using Firefox. I as able to send messages and add friends using Firefox. I went back it IE8 and I found that in the members section the messages box appeared at the very top of the page - I had to scroll up to see the box. However, the add Friends feature did not work. Any suggestions? |

Additional information, using IE8 I can sometimes add a friend but not always. The messages feature does not work in the members section. Is there a fix for IE8? Thank you! |

Ben, how do I do that? I am using the module as part of a larger website? Thanks, Ed |

If you don't want to disrupt the rest of your site, you can just create a new page. Go into the page settings for that page, and set the skin. Then add the module to the page. |

I have gone through a number of pages of my members list and here is what is happening. If i click on "Add Friend" the add friend box appears at the very top of the page. However, if I click on another member (or the same member) whether it be "Add Friend" or "Messages" the text box will not appear. The same holds try for messages. If I first click on messages on a particular page, then the message box will appear. However, neither the message box or add friend box will appear if I click on either box for the same or another member on that page. If I got to another page then a box appears but only for the first click. Also, the text box appears at the very top of the page instead of where I clicked. Is there anyway to get the text box to appear when or near where I clicked? As I mentioned earlier, these problems only exist in IE8 - Firefox works fin! Thanks, Ed |

As I mentioned in my prior message, I am using DNN 4.9.1 and AS 1.9.2. Also, when I clicked on messages in the link that you provided there were no problems. |

DotNetNuke 4.9.1 isn't actually supported. It could be that you are having problems from missing api aspects that Active Social expects to be present. Active Social requires DotNetNuke 5.1.1 or higher. |

Thank you for your reply. I currently under contract with my current hosting service and once the contract is up I will be changing hosting services. I don't want to make any changes to the website until I change hosting services (the new hosting services will upgrade my DNN for free). This change in hosting services will occur in about one month. In the meantime, is there anything I can do to correct this problem? Thank you. Ed |

In the meantime, is there anything I can do to correct this problem? No, I don't believe we can help you correct this problem on DNN 4.9.1. |
