    http://www.bizmodules.net/Products/...fault.aspx

There are 2 good news for users who integrate UVG and Active Social, firstly, you can now control the security option of videos posted to AS, to do that, simple insert a record in HostSettings table with the name of "portal id_UVGJournalSecurity" (for example: 0_UVGJournalSecurity) and value of the security option, secondly, UVG 4.2 is compatible with Active Social 1.9, including embeded videos.

Has anyone done this successfully? Can you please tell me (us) how?

    Thanks a lot.

    Thanks.

I think Steven is making a tutorial for this over at http://dnnosphere.com for this.  I have played around with it a little but haven't had any success yet.

Yeah, it has been a few weeks since I posted on his site about it and he said he was working on it.  I'm looking forward to seeing how it works as well

What token do we need to use in the template to get the embedded video to show up?  Thanks!

Ok, I just re-watched Steven's video http://dnnosphere.com/videos/player...-using-api and it is the [AS:JOURNALINFO:DI:BODY] token that needs to be used.  As well as changing your template, you need to go into your HostSettings table and add an entry: 'Setting Name' is UVGJournalSecurity_0 and 'Setting Value' is Everyone.

Now it looks like just a matter of making the template look nice.  I'll post mine when I get it the way I want it.

    Thank you, Ricky.

Any idea how we make the videos show in the journal for friends only? Is that what you are referring to by this UVGJournalSecurity_0 and 'Setting Value' is Everyone?

Do we have to do this in the database? HostSettings table and add an entry: 'Setting Name' is UVGJournalSecurity_0 and 'Setting Value' is Everyone.

    Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure if it will work, but you can try setting the 'Setting Value' to 'Friends Only' instead of 'Everyone'.  You will have to add these items in the HostSettings table of your database.

I have my template done....Here is what I have so far...

Ricky, thanks for breaking it down for us. I registered on your site, since I am interested in the subject as well. But in poking around I don't see any video module on your site. Are you testing it and only allowing your account to see UVG? Just curious if you are planning to allow people to post to a single community area, or to their profile or to groups? I spent so much time on UMG and UVG in the past but just gave up finally thinking that I might not be able to get something simple enough for general users to use to post video to member or group profiles. Have you accomplished this?

Also, if I cannot get UVG to be simple enough for general users, I am thinking about allowing some users to post Tutorials in a Community area.

The whole concept of dealing with media in AS has a lot of promise. But for me so far has just been a black hole sucking up a lot of my time. Maybe I am just too much of a perfectionist or something.

    Cliff,

The video module is on there, I just don't have it visible as of yet because I still haven't decided how I'm going to use it.  I am going to allow it for general use, but I am only going to allow links from youtube and such.  Like you, I want to make it as simple as possible.  Stay tuned..

It not posting to the journal at all. Before I upgraded it to uvg 4.2.1 it was posting to the journal. After upgrade it has stopped posting anything to the journal. I think something went wrong with the upgrade but then everything else (AS and UVG) is working fine. I am thinking I somehow messed up the integration, that's why I posted the images.

I appreciate your help and time.

Hmmm... Didn't even know there was AS 1.9.3 until you mentioned. Don't we usually get a update notification?

    Anyway, thanks a lot.

The video link is displayed on the Summary Page/Profile Page but it does not embed the video. I am using Rick's template.

What new job? I thought you were a full time web developer/programmer! I am glad you are back. Do you have time to create a video for this: "you can try setting the 'Setting Value' to 'Friends Only' instead of 'Everyone'.  You will have to add these items in the HostSettings table of your database."?

    Please, of course.

You need to upgrade to AS 1.9.3. That version has the additional XSS resolution UVG needed to save the "Embed" code to show the video within your [AS:JOURNALINFO:DI:BODY] tag

    Thanks Steven and Rick.

I have noticed that embeding works only for youtube videos. If I upload my own video, embedding does not work.

Also, is there a way to control the size of the embedded video in the journal? Looks like there can be only one size for journal and the video player.

And, I should probably be asking this questions on BizModules but if you guys don't find, please let me (and others who will benefit from your replies) know.

    Thanks.

    Frozen,

You can control the size of the embedded video from your UVG config settings.

    Thank you, Rick.

It does decrease the size of the embeded video but then it also decreases the size of the other/same videos if we watch it in the player. We obviously need a smaller size for the journal but not if we are watching it on the player.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, embedding only works for youtube videos and not for videos uploaded from the computer. Is that correct?

    Thank you for your time.

    This is from Matt Marlor:
For everyone's reference, the journal security values can be found at http://www.activemodules.com/active...ofileitem/

The simplest way to add the necessary setting is via the Host SQL module, using a query like:

    insert into {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}hostsettings VALUES ('0_UVGJournalSecurity',1,0,-1,GETDATE(),-1,GETDATE())

The above query will add the setting for portal 0, with Everyone permissions.

    found here: http://www.bizmodules.net/Support/t...aspx#24286

Just wondering how to make it friends only? Would this work for friends only?

    insert into {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}hostsettings VALUES ('0_UVGJournalSecurity',3,0,-1,GETDATE(),-1,GETDATE())
