    • Type of Feedback: Something to think about
AF and AS are great.. but can use some ergonomic adjustments. Design choices from a while ago should be reexamined. Simple example: in the act of posting this i notice:

    * i need to scroll quite a ways down to find a big submit button. I use an average size browser screen. Smaller buttons both top and bottom?
    * I seldom type 25-line posts, and yet this dialog box shows that many. It is not needed. Half this size works and we can move down if needed.
    * far too much screen real estate on icons. Deploy a popup for both Post icons and smilies. We don't need to see them take up so much space.
    * If "Topic Status" must be moved to the right, at least right align it to the border of the boxes.
    * Line up the left of the screen.
    * The Summary need not be so wide.
    * Design and HTML tabs should simply be a toggle button on the top toolbar, there again saving screen real estate.
    * Having opening arrows for the 3 items on the bottom is just wrong. We have to go way right, then way left too often.
    * Do not hide the option for notifications. Most average users will not explore and not realize it is there. Put it to the top, easy access.
    * Attachements and tags just do not need that much prominence.
    * Add some pizazz to the screen. Mac it mac-like, simple yet elegant. People look at this screen ALOT, and it currently is not very feng shui.

I hope this post results in healthy debate and not interpreted as slamming the product.. thanks, drew..

No need for a debate. I believe I mentioned previously that we are working on a UI overhaul for all the products. However, everyone will have a different opinion so more opinions are good. Also keep in mind that no matter what we provide as default someone will always have a better approach from their perspective. You will always be able to modify the templates to meet your needs.

thanks Will, sorry i must have missed the note on the overhaul (or forgot, i do that ). But it would be great to at least have my thoughts considered before final layouts are set. It is free advice, hopefully worth more than the price paid for it.. drew..

@drew I agree with many of your points but I believe the Design/HTML will be editor dependent.

I definitely agree about the smileys. I could use that extra width if the smileys were in a drop down instead. I've had to curtail my editor's tool bar options to fit the width I have available.

The hidden options below the submit button, should be always visible IMO, though there are a lot of of potential options and it would be cluttered so I see the decision to hide them. Maybe all in one hidden area would be better?
