I think that's what they're called.

Anywhere there is an image, there should be an 'alt=' tooltip.

For example, in the friends mini view on the profile page.
When you hover over a profile avatar, the tooltip should display the user's display name.

I fully second this enhancement request. Such tooltips are standard fucntionality (and very useful) for numerous communication / social platforms (for e.g. twitter provides these tooltips to easilt see who is 'following' any given twitter feed, for example).

We had this in the application but had to remove them temporarily because some people think it's ok to have an apostrophe in their name.

I believe we have this fixed and should be available in .17 or .18
