    This is a repost of a question i just added to a relevant thread. Just because the thread was old doesn't mean we cannot add to it, especially if the thread is still relevant.

    "i recently participating in threads and experimented and was very happy to get the notification popup showing across all pages of my dnn site, yeah.

    I received hate mail. It seems the little bugger is popping up almost none-stop. And i confirmed this. I went looking for a popup interval and found none. One user told me she would not revisit my site it was so annoying. So.. i had to turn it off. This is too important to not have working. Look at fb, look at the little non-intrusive **push** tech that alters the little icons for users. They love that.

    Little usability issues like this make huge impact impressions on fledgling users.  drew.."

    Of course i adjusted the minutes for rechecking. This made no difference. In fact, the notification was appearing every few seconds. Perhaps this is because i have the relevant code dropped into my skin file so that it appears on each page of my site? This is what is tacked onto the end of my Myskin.ascx file:

    <active:SocialWelcome ID="Socialwelcome1" runat="server">
    <active:messagecenter id='ctlMsgCenter' runat='server'>

    I agree. I would like the notification popup to be once-per-session or once-per-XX minutes.

    i discovered my hosts had switched servers on me and my timezones were 1-hour out-of-whack. This correction at my end eliminated the incessant pop-up interval AND the email flood interval issue i had.

    But.. i would luv to see some feedback from Will et al regarding this popup issue: for those of us who feel it should be site-wide and implement that in our skins, this pop-up must be tied to a cookie so that the timed interval is honoured. As such it pops up every refresh, which is horribly intrusive and as such renders this unusable.

    Here is a fantastic solution.

    I found a post a while back about integrating a login/register AS type section at the top of a page, and I've restyled it and beefed it up.. so it looks great. Take a look at the screenshot. I've also attached a text file with the instructions.

    Change colors, styles, etc.. as needed.

    Let me know if this works for anyone. You should be able to turn off the popups and keep visitors happy with quick access to messages, etc.
