If a user is logged in and they visit the Sign up page they are asked to "Create your account by completing the following information". Could some intelligence be added to this page so that if the user is already logged in it does not say "Create your account" but instead invites them to "Update your existing account information" and presents below this all the AS profile fields for them to populate / review and submit. Upon submit they really should be redirected to their profile page.

This would help me - and anyone else whose site has a large number of pre-existing users - with my roll out of AS. I want to push users to update their existing profile info from the very basic info they entered (in the "pre-AS" days) so that their AS profile is as complete as possible.

In terms of user experience - and maximizing use, by users, of what AS has to offer - is an absolute must.

    Eoghan,
You might consider setting security on that sign up page so "Unauthenticated Users" have view permissions, but "Registered Members" and "Everyone" do not.

That way this page disappears to registered uses who can edit their profile using the link from their profile page.

    Good suggestion.

It could be then taken even a step further - a (core HTML?) module could be placed on the 'sign up' page and the module is given permissions that mean it is only seen by authenticated users. The module could say "please update your profile by visiting your "profile" page and click on "edit profile". But this is not very elegant as itrequires at least three actions by the user before getting to the right 'edit profile' page, namely:

    1) navigate to a page with a link to his/her profile
    2) click on the link to their profile page
    3) click on the link to 'edit profile'

If, out of the box, a bit of 'check if the user is authenticated' intelligence could be built into the AS sign up it would greatly improve the likelihood that users update their profile, which is what we all want them to do is it not?! It would also make it a more attractive proposition to many potential customers of Active Modules.

    Eoghan,
Only Administrators and Super Users can access the signup page when logged in. All other users are automatically redirected to the page specified as ProfileView. I do not recommend having the SignUp view on the same page as the profile view.

Will, thanks for pointing that out. That's not the first time I've seen behaviour that was specific to host or admin without checking if it was the same for a non-admin user. I think it is time I installed DNN Identity switcher ( http://www.codeplex.com/identityswitcher )...

    Eoghan,

Be very carefull when installing this on a live website!! I'd would not recommend this at all. If you would do it after all, make sure that you DON'T select to include host accounts.
