Currently, when you click the New Message button from the inbox, it displays a To box and users are supposed to enter user's usernames or email addresses. For most sites, users won't know usernames or email addresses as they generally aren't displayed anywhere. So, there needs to be a User Selector control added to this page that makes it easy to search for or pick your friends and other members.

Incidentally.... on my Friends page, the search to find friends has worked very well for me. I've been able to find everyone I've looked for. Perhaps something similar can be used.

What about the same feature as Facebook has.. You start typing the name of your friend and a drop down with the "search result" appears?!?

But yes it should be easier to send messages to friends. 3+

I would also like this feature, but would be happy with a simple popup user picker.
