    • Type of Feedback: Something I deal with

Currently, when creating a new topic, "Topic Status" is not enforced. This causes some issues for communities that rely on a points system rather than a post count system.

In example, several users may make new posts that are a question, and actually get the correct answer but they never mark as correct answer because they never started their post as "Not Resolved" by using the post status. I'm guilty of this myself.

Would like to see "Topic Status" extended with another option as "general post" along with the other existing options and have it enforced as a requirement for posting a new topic. I know this is not ideal for all forum instances, so an admin option could be put in place per forum to enforce it.

Results: If in a forum "Topic Status" is enforced, and "Not Resolved" is used as the topic status, the "Correct Answer?" will appear, and the topic creator is more apt to accept a correct answer, thus rewarding the poster that provided the correct answer.

In a points system community, the poster that provides the correct answer gets the reward points. We can always use CSS, etc to make the "Correct Answer?" more prominent to the original poster ourselves since that is the only user that would see it.

I am also aware that AM may be looking into a vote up/down type system. And if it is implemented, it would be a HUGE win/win if its' somehow implemented into the existing points system. In which I'm more keen on than the "Topic Status" usage.

To further expand on the "Topic Status" and "Correct Answer", other corresponding options can be added:

    - Informative: Option to poster to accept "Best Reply" in place of "Correct Answer" (or similar)

I don't think there are any other options at the moment, and I'f I'm not mistaken (without going to check real quick) once a correct answer is accepted, the post gets marked as "resolved".

    Cheers! Jeff

    Hi,
I need the exact same thing. Is this issue going to be solved in AF?

Wow! I just noticed this post has still never been moved over to the AF forum.

    Erik,

It's not really considered an issue, but rather an enhancement to the current posting process that I would really love to have implemented. But given the fact that AF will soon (eventually) be open source, and available for download as a DNN module (much like DNN Blog, repository, events, etc) I doubt any new features will be added in.

At this point, I've only seen releases for AF that fix show stoppers.
    Cheers! Jeff

    To add to this,

Once it becomes a supported DNN module like the DNN blog module. It will get a team of volunteers assigned to it like all the other extra DNN Modules. So development will indeed continue to move forward, but at what pace will be up to the community and the team that runs it.

With that point said, in relation to voting up/down, I had understood that it was being looked into and if the code is still out there, it still may be implemented. But for what I had wanted to do, enforcing topic status........This would eventually have to be requested again through DNN once the project gets going.

Of course, this is all purely speculation, but from what I understand, AF will be a completely standalone module that will have to be supported by DNN in one way or another.
    Cheers! Jeff
