I have different group categories that I group together under a parent (see screenshot). For example - I have Location, Skill Level etc.

The problem is that these group parent categories don't make sense by themselves (on the AS example you have parent groupings that do make sense, like Business, Entertainment etc.). I think an easy solution might be to be able to set a flag against a category called "Selectable" or something so that when it appears in the UI it will be disabled but show it's children.

Otherwise I am going to have stupid users with groups with Location and Skill categories etc.

    Thoughts?

    thanks

    + 1

If no subcategories exist, then category is selectable. If subcategories exist, then primary category is non-selectable.

And when displaying cagetories elsewhere on a site, all groups in subcategories should be viewable when a primary category is selected and then filtered downward to subcategories.

We will make this an option soon.
If no subcategories exist, then category is selectable. If subcategories exist, then primary category is non-selectable.

This just doesn't fit all use cases.

    Rodney,

You can check out my css trick to hide the toplevel : http://www.activemodules.com/Commun...aspx#64749

Keep in mind though, that if there are no subcategories in the topcategory, the css will hide the checkbox for those too.
    Cheers! Jeff
