    • Type of Feedback: Something I want
I would like to be able to define different group membership levels.

    Example:

A Private group is setup, I apply to join the group.

     1) The group administrator(s) can approve my group application and decide wether I become:

          a) A full group member, with full group access.

          b) A read-only group member, can access and view all group information but cannot contribute.
However, being able to allow the RO user to comment would be nice.

awesome thought. I was contemplating this last night as i am realizing that i want to promote a group to the public but it lies within my AS framework and thus would require: a registration, a verification, a search for the group, a group join action, and in some cases a registration approval. This eliminates the hopes to allowing the world to see the wisdom of a group as it evolves.

This is already in the works. If you look at the database you can see the database already supports member types and we already have some defaults. The next release of AS is focused on groups. This will then expose management of group member types and several other features.

Great to hear this Will. Groups will definitely be a major focus on my site. I know we will all be happy to have these two items listed in Task Tracker.

    Task Type: Feature
    Target Version: 2.0.0
    Affected Versions:
    Included in Version:
Add option for multiple group owners/admins.
Add security options to control what tasks are available to MemberTypes
