    • Type of Feedback: Something I want
I thought i posted this before but can't find it (side note: AF could really use with a top-level search facility, as it is, we must go to google to search across forum groups).

Please consider moving the "Add Twitter Account" to a user's profile where it logically belongs

    &

Please add an extra button to allow us to Post & Tweet and keep the Post as internal only. It *really* limits your posting efforts knowing the limitations on Twitter AND not everything is tweet-worthy.

It already does. Click the search link in the upper left hand corner.

This is already planned and will be in 2.0.

It's in both places. Keep in mind that a lot of our decisions are based upon end-user feedback from multiple sources. When we first introduced twitter integration it was only available under my settings. Not only did we receive a lot of "How do I enable twitter" but so did site admins. Adding the additional option under the journal tools received great feedback along with reports of greater adoption. It's also setup the same way as LinkedIn and other sites that integrate with twitter so the concept should be familiar to some. That being said, we also realize that a person should be able to make that button go away if they choose not to use twitter. That is coming soon as well.

I'd like to be able to 'unclick' the Twitter icon if I don't want to post, and to set the behaviour as default.

I do like where the link to Twitter button has been moved to now, though. Much better.

I know it's been raised before, but I'd love it to show a "number of characters" incrementing counter to help with Twitter space limitations (don't much care for the JS hack :-) ). This is more complex with a link, even with the built-in Bit.ly API functionality - totally understood. However this does cause a tweet with a link to sometimes not be posted - even if it would be well within 140 after shortening.

It would be wonderful (as with everything - amazed Will finds the time for anything!) if the bit.ly shortening, or any other shorteners added, could be done inline ala certain other sites and third party clients (Seesmic Desktop 2 being good example). Certainly feasible and flashy, and would help with the Tweet length limitations.

Incidentally, currently we set our status limit length to 280 character because of the aforementioned URL problem. It *mostly* works although I do note that we still drop some tweets that are 1 or 2 chars short of 140 characters.

I, too, would like to see running character counter. Not really concerned re bit.ly - don't use URL shorterners ... what if they go out of business? Perhaps for shorties - could use "recalculate" button?

Love how 'via' points back to website on old twitter. Great job Will.

bit.ly is useful to have, as well as any number of other shorteners. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised to see Will add in some others for choice - there's even a DNN url shortener on Codeplex from memory. In terms of going out of business, they seem to have some revenue models sorted out so it's looking unlikely.

I think the option to use shorteners or not would be good. If used, then it shortens on the fly.

Agree - Will did a great job of the oAuth implementation.
