    • Type of Feedback: Something I want
I was trying to figure out how to allow users to delete their account without making this a manual process done by admins. So I accessed the default DNN User Account that has Credentials, Roles, Etc.

Under Credentials there is an option for users to "unregister" from a site. This is basically the same page as the AS "MyAccount.ascx". It would be great if the "unregister" option from DNN could be ported over to the AS template.
    Cheers! Jeff

this is a good idea but takes on a deeper dimension when one factors in the journals, forum entries, and soon: the Likes etc.

We plan to add it as an option eventually. When we first created Active Social we had more customers wanting to hide the default unregister link. We can't just use the same unregister process as DNN, because we have more content to deal with as well.

Unregister definitely has deeper complexity when it comes to ActiveSocial, but potentially can be important in relation to legislation - for example here, the Spam Act, which has some obligations regarding unsubscribe/unregister. Not *always* relevant because it depends on if you're sending out emails/newsletters/etc (we're not but may do later).

An option to deactive accounts ala Facebook? Retains the details but makes the profile inaccessible while content remains in place?

Could also be an opportunity to offer an opt-in/opt-out capability for AS, pertaining to emails etc. There is some of this already, but I mean providing the ability to construct some basic mailing lists that can be unsubscribed from without actually unregistering. Maybe could be a nice value-add for AS without going to the full-on mailing products and services, which would be needed for high volume/professional campaigns.

Might be good to add an active account check within AF and AS before sending out emails. That would prevent the outbound emails for those who self de-activated....but if they returned to the site and re-activated....none of their subscriptions are lost.
