    Hi

I'm not sure if this is a question or a suggestion.

If I type in a 'note' in my personal profile that contains some text and a URL the URL is not turned into a hyperlink and remains simply a link on my journal page.
Most of how I want to use AS will involve posting links with some comment based text for which the "Note" is perfect other than not resolving the hyperlink. Is there anyway I can customize this?

    Johnathan,
Why not use the "links" in the journal instead of the note? It will validate the link, pull in images, allow you (and others) to comment on it, etc.

Thanks Steven, but I want to be able to add some text to the URL as a description and I don't think I can do this with a "link" can I?

You can add a description with links.

Please help because I can't get AS to do what I'd like and its really causing me a problem.

I am using As in a private members area of my site. In this private members area I have a range of resources (documents PDFs, xls video training etc). Using AS I have created groups around topics that my members are interested in. My site is a "learning site" so has members and experts. The experts give advice and point users towards some of the resources in the resource library (these are stored in the DNN CMS).

What I want to do is quite simple. In a group I want to post on the profile page something like...

"here is a great pdf checklist on how to x and Y http://www.mysite.com/xyz.htm" - where the URL is and active link and clickable

If I do this as a basic "post" the url is not a link which confuses my not-so-tech members. If I try to add html tags ie "
If I try to "Share Link" AS social tries to get the page summary. As my links (resources) are for members only they require the user to be logged in. AS does not seem to deal with this even though when posting I am logged in and returns the details of the DNN login page - which I can't edit. So all Links have the title "Log in" and teh description of the login page.

Please help. I just assumed I would be able to post URLs in basic text posts. I wanted to use AS so that I could discuss and promote many of the resouces in my members area. I can't find anyway of doing this.

Please help with any workaround or ideas, I really don't know where to go next . Alternativley it would be great in a future version to resolve URLs in text posts
    active links or similar.

    Thanks in advance

I disabled Notes as my users were confused by them and I could not explain what they were for - they juts post a link or write on the wall and Notes are off at all levels. If Notes could allow rich HTML then it might be more useful? Dunno...

    Jonathan,
Not sure if your tech savvy (programming-wise) but I'm thinking this might be something you could write your own application for in the journal. I know I have some simple, but very specific things I want to do in the journal on BikeClicks but need to wait until this capability comes out in AS. I "think" it's coming out in 1.7.

Just added an option to enable Auto Links for journal content in 1.6. Should be able to test on activesocial.com in just a few minutes.
