I would like to extend the existing template token suite for use in my template.

Here is an example - on this group (http://www.pokerdiy.com/poker-group...ers.aspx), all the locations have little houses (if it is a home poker group), or a monitor (if it is online). The links on the member addresses click through to my Search by Location screen. This is just a bit of code that parses the location info nicely and spits it out in my format.

It would be cool if I could make a custom token so I can use my own code in the templates - e.g. [ST:GROUPINFO:LOCATION]

Is this possible, if so, could you get me started with some code please?
    thanks

You can try to create tokens in the "tokens.config" file, look at the existing tokens in the file.

Thanks, but I need to do this programatically (I have all the tokens written for my existing software, I just need to be able to call them from the AS templates somehow)
    thanks

Creating static and dynamic tokens is possible, but trying to use existing tokens from another application to render dynamic content is going to take a lot of work. I would suggest a custom http module to process your custom tokens.

What about integrating Active Modules with MyTokens? It's pretty well documented: http://docs.avatar-soft.ro/doku.php...ntegration
Would this accomplish your goals Rodney?

I had a look at MyTokens but from what I understand it would require changes in ActiveSocial to work? (it says it patches the core mods)

The thing is - I have all this great business logic sitting in my tokens which just needs to be called from a template - Ideally I could just extend an AS base class and plug in custom tokens for maximum integration flexibility.

Failing that then an httphandler is probably the next best thing but it's just another overhead and layer of complexity - I'll have to play around with it a bit.
    thanks
