- Active Social Version: 1.8.3
- DotNetNuke Version: 5.5.0
Hi All,
Just wanted to point out a new feature in Active Social 1.8.3 which is very cool - bit.ly API integration.
I've tested it myself with my bit.ly Pro account, which uses my custom domain for URL shortening, and it works brilliantly.

It looks like at the moment, it's really there for use while sending updates to Twitter (which also works beautifully in 1.8.3). Your URLs will seamlessly be shortened using bit.ly, and if you have a custom domain it'll use that. I'm very fond of my tek.ms custom domain so it's cool to see it being used automatically.
My testing shows that it will happily work on multiple URLs in a single update, so it's a good and solid implementation.
THANKS WILL! :D
Matt

Drew, is there an advantage to having a bit.ly Pro account as opposed to a free account? Is it that you get a custom URL? Steve |

Bit.ly Pro acccounts are misleading in title - they're actually free as well. There is another level above that which is charged. But yes, Bit.ly pro lets you use your URL of choice. Works great, which is why I loved the fact that it was added to AS. |

How do you get the "fee" Pro account? I am using the lower level service, but would love to get to "automatic" URL shortening. Thanks in advance for a little guidance. - Larry BTW: Go Packers! |

You can switch over to the free bit.ly pro here: http://bit.ly/pro/products Especially useful if you have a nice short domain name spare. You can, however, use the bit.ly api with the regular account - just get your API key from your settings on bit.ly. Drew - condolences on your loss man. |
