Is it possible to hide AS Private Group Forums?
I know they are locked, but I would like to hide the private group forums altogether from those that do not have permissions to view it.

Dont think it can be done! Will this be available in 4.3 by setting permissions?

I believe all you need to do is go to the forum settings in the Active Forums control panel mark the forum as hidden. You have to do this manually.

Yes, but if you have lots of users creating private groups so that they can discuss things confidentially, manually marking the forum hidden would be a big admin overhead (and no good when I go on holiday for two weeks).
I know it locks out non-group members, but a setting would be good in the control panel to automate this i.e. a "display private forums to members only" checkbox or something, so that it becomes invisible to non-group members.
Also seeing lots of locked out forums kind of clutters the rest of the forums and makes it more difficult for people to see public forums.

If this is a concern then you should actually use another instance of Active Forums from a hidden page for your group specific forums. Group forums should only be accessed from within the context of the group. If you have the Active Social vanity urls enabled then this will actually be enforced already. Then you don't have the need for a long list of group forums.

Here are a couple posts that discuss this in more detail.

Excellent. Thank you.
I created a forum group to hold all group discussions, then set that to hidden. That way forum forums and group forums are seperated which is great.
