I'm having difficulty customizing my welcome center.

I've copied the Welcome Center Template and I see it under "Portal Templates/Other" but the changes that I make are not showing up in the welcome center.

If i change the default file under DesktopModules/ActiveSocial/Config/Templates/Other, the changes do show up immediately.

When selecting the welcome center under Social View Settings, it doesn't give me the opportunity to switch between the default or portal template

Is this a bug/limitation or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

Well... you could just copy the code and create a blank template under other and then replace the Welcome Center module with your Custom View - Welcome Center...

Essentially you will just be Copy and Pasting the Welcome Center into a blank template, and then using that instead of the Default, make sense?

If that works, that it's an ok solution, but it seems odd that you can copy the template and modify it, but you can't use it without doing a custom view.

You can, and what you are asking for does work.  I'm just not entirely certain what step you are missing.  The way I've described offers a little more control (IMO) as you have the original and your new custom view.

Well, it's a fairly simple process so I don't see how I could be doing it wrong. Guess I'll just go the custom view route...
