I have just updated to 1.9.3 and needed to create a new custom view, not something I do very often.

I can create a new template but when I click it to edit nothing happens.
Nothing happens when I click any of the templates.

I have tried this using IE9, FF4 and Chrome - same problem.

I have posted about this before because there is definitely an issue and not just with 1.9.3. It has been this way for me for as long as I can remember. The workaround I found was that if you go into a standard template it will load up. Once you do that you can go back to the custom templates and now they work for editing. Let me know if that works for you.

I also have issues when creating custom journal types that it can take 45 seconds to load the settings. Before I figured this out, I was thinking that it wasn't working and would click away too early.

When you create a custom journal type it creates a new entry in one of the localization files. This triggers an application restart from DNN (which is by design for caching purposes).

That explains a lot. Thanks Will.

Is the basis behind the requirement to do the restart negated if there is no localization requirement on the site? Or am I misunderstanding? I guess I am asking if certain functionality is not required on a site, then could this restart be avoided?
