    Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to move the [AS:CONTROL:GROUPNEWS] to a tab instead of having it appear at the top of the group page? I'd like to have the users use this control to make a nice big page, but this bumps the tab menus way too far down the page. So I thought if I could make it a tab and move this tab to the front it make the formatting better. I understand how to make a module appear in a tab, but I'm not sure how to make a control appear in a tab.

    Thanks.

Yes you can. I've done it. You need to create a new template that contains this control (not a custom view through the front end - rather a custom ascx file). Then you can "call" it by adding the tab and calling that view.

In my case I changed the labels from news to about...I thought that made more sense. I also change the group description to "intro" to keep the size small.

You can see the results here: http://www.bikeclicks.com/kymba/about

    Hi,

One follow up question on this. In groupviewtabs.config I've added an entry for my new asx file. I don't understand what comes after active:_____ what is suppose to go here for a custom .asx file? I looked at the other entries and tried "generic" but it displays [AS:CONTROL:GROUPNEWS] as a rich text input box instead (input form) instead of just displaying the contents of this field. Is there a place with a description of the syntax of these tab "calls" by any chance.

    Thanks again.

You might want to wait for Active Social 1.7 to be released tomorrow which now includes an about/info tab. You can see this over on activesocial.com

Edit the group and clear the news section and see if it will load. It sounds like it be trying to filter the contents.
