As a developer I have allocated one of my licenses for development purposes. That is, for every new site we develop with Active Social as the social engine we create a subdomain and host the site until the project is done. Once the project is done we intend to purchase a license for the client and to activate it on his domain.
For every customer it will always be http://<customerName>.ASPvia.com. Since two different sub-domains are considered by Active Social two different sites I cannot obviously activate the same license on more than one. So practically I cannot develop more than one site at the time with one developer license. The alternative of buying licenses for the clients and activate them on the sub domain is also a problem since:
1. In most cases we start by showing the capabilities of Active Social to get the clients' approval to move forward with it.
2. Active Social enables a limited number of activations per license (or something like that).
3. In case of reinstalling Active Social on a fresh DNN installation (for the same client) another activation is required.
I would like to know what is the recommended way to go about licensing as a developer. I'm sure that there are many other developers here who have encountered the same problem. I'd also recommend Active Module team to consider a developer license that can be activated on different sub domains of one registered domain.
Thanks!
David.
