I have just upgraded to AS 1.4.1

And I notice you have implemented a [AS:PROFILE:ACTIONS]  tag instead of the old:

    • [AS:CONTROL:EDITPROFILE]
    • [AS:CONTROL:MYACCOUNT]
    • etc

I only need to and I only want to display "Edit Profile" & "My Account" - because I don't want people changing their settings in "My Settings" as I set them for them - BUT I don't know how to set this up now - please help

The [AS:PROFILE:ACTIONS] is defined in the DesktopModules/ActiveSocial/config/tokens.config file.

You can edit this file, but I would strongly suggest making a backup, because it is the default file and it does not function like the rest of the theme files that have fallbacks.

Editing the file should be pretty straightforward, but let me know if you have questions.

Ben, does that mean I will need to update that file any time I upgrade to the newest version of AS?

Not if you've created a custom theme for AS...with this one file in it.  I've upgraded from 1.3 forward and have not lost or had to re-code any changes to my theme

Hmm, I tried putting this file in the \ActiveSocial\themes\MyCustomTheme\template folder but the changes I made didn't seem to matter. Is that not the right place? I was able to make changes to the profileviewtabs.config file there. I am still on 1.3.4, I wonder if upgrading would make a difference...

Check out the guide for skinning AS. You need to set a few things up for it to work

To clarify, I have other config and template files working correctly in my custom theme using the guide Ben posted awhile back. It's just this one config file that won't work. Going off what Ben had posted earlier
You can edit this file, but I would strongly suggest making a backup, because it is the default file and it does not function like the rest of the theme files that have fallbacks
it would appear that this is the expected behavior. I just wanted to make sure that was the case.

*.config files inside the config file cannot be copied and moved to the themes folder. You can edit a *.config file but will need to back them up to save your changes. They get overwritten on upgrades.

Hope this helps Caleb. I think Steven was overlooking the fact that you are editing config files rather than template files. If I'm incorrect on this, please someone point in the right direction because this is the only way I know that works.
    Cheers! Jeff

This file needs to stay in the config directory. It is not part of a theme, and if you some how break it, we can only provide you with a default version. Also, to answer the question, yes you would need to redo the changes whenever there is a change in version.

In a future version we will add classes or Id's to the different links so that you can hide them with CSS.
