I am after a step by step guide to show me all the things i need to have in place to access and use the Active Social API to develop some integration features between a custom module and Active Social Groups. 

I see there is this KB article, but I really need something more detailed for an AS API newby.  More specifically, "How do I get the GroupID" ?  What do i need to reference, import, inherit ??
