Must be losing it, can't find the export content from the module dropdown or anywhere. How & where do I select to do an export of forum content so I can import it later?

I'm sorry, but we do not have a supported process for exporting and importing forums content.

Ouch... That hurts my head. The only way to build and test a Forum is live??

You can test the forum on localhost or another test server. I know customers have also moved the entire database from testing to production, we just do not provide support for that process.
