    • Active Forums Version: 4.3.5
    • DotNetNuke Version: 5.6.2
I just upgraded a customer's site from DNN v3.2 all the way up to v6.0.2. The DNN upgrade went fine, but they were also running an old version of Active Forums. After the site upgrade we started getting the GetRolesByUser error, so we purchased the newest version of Active Forums 4.3.2 Express. Although the new AF module appeared to install correctly with no errors, it did not upgrade the old forums. When I add a new instance of Active Forums on the page I get an error that says dbo.activeforums_SettingsTable is an invalid object. I see several tables in the database with the activeforums prefix, but none with that name. So now I am in a state where neither the old forum nor the new forum works.

Any advice on how to proceed?

I can't even get to the control panel. If I look at the existing forum, it doesn't load because of the GetRolesByUser error. Nothing on the page loads. If I delete that module from the page and add a new copy of the forums, I get the error that dbo.activemodules_SettingsTable is an invalid object.

What happens if you just install the latest version, and add it to a page?

I have it up and running now. I uninstalled everything and started over with a clean install, and now it works fine. Obviously an error happened during the initial install that I missed, but it's all good now.
