    • DotNetNuke Version: 6.1.3
I have an Active Forums 04.03.08 installation and the DotNetNuke installation in which it lives has been damaged quite severely.

What I need to do is create a new DotNetNuke installation and move my old Active Forums from the damaged site to the new one.

    How do I do this?

I am not sure how far along you are in this process, but since we don't have any scripts to achieve this you might have to do some digging. After you install the module on the new site, you will need to look for differences in the database. The most obvious one would be ModuleId. It will need to be updated in all the old data, before it is imported into the new database. I don't think Topic, Forum, Group or Content IDs would need to be updated. I am not sure about handling attachments. All the permissions use RoleId's so I might be easier to just reset them all to a default value and manually update the permissions in the AF control panel afterwards.

    Thanks, Ben

I am not very far along.

At this point, I have managed to recreate the site from a portal export. All of the pages are there, and Active Forums and other modules are on the appropriate pages. For Active Forums, of course, no content is there.

As I mentioned, the site is badly damaged. That includes the Extensions and File Manager modules which do not work on the old site. Thus, I am unable to install a module to export users from the old site.

I assume that I need to have users from the old site in place, and with the same userIds as on the old site before I even worry about moving the AF content. Is that a good guess?

Do you have any tips on moving tables from the old database to the new one? I'm thinking that I need to drop all of the foreign key constraints to be able to move tables, and then re-creat them? If I can get the users set this way, then I'll be brave enough to try to move the AF data.

Yes, the users would all need to have the same UserIds otherwise the wrong people would be the wrong authors of posts. Also regarding actually moving the data... I guess you should install the module on the new site to get all the tables created correctly, then export>import the data table by table. I have not actually performed this task so I am afraid I can not really give you a more detailed response. I will probably be better at answering more specific questions that arise, as opposed to guidelines for the overall process.
