It looks like the link generated by the default SubscribedEmail template doesn't work correctly when the post is created on an Active Social group page. I got a post notification that had the following link for the thread (domain removed): /tabid/308/aft/33/Default.aspx

When I clicked on the link, I was taken to the Group View page (as expected) but I (as an administrator) go the "GroupID not specified" message. When I browse to the discussion tab on the page for the group, I can see that the correct link for the thread is (domain removed): /GroupView/tabid/308/aft/33/asg/1/Default.aspx

I can even remove the GroupView part from the link and it works, so the link the notification email should contain is (domain removed): /tabid/308/aft/33/asg/1/Default.aspx

It's pretty easy to see that the missing piece is the asg parameter and value (in this case 1).

The only place I can see to change this is in the SubscribedEmail templates (html and text) but I can't figure out what how to change it so it will work correctly for posts created via the regular forums as well as posts created from groups. This is why I'm posting in an Active Forums forum. If this isn't the right place, Will or someone from AM will move my post, I'm sure.

    Thanks,
    Ray

Ray, my understanding is that "in group" subscriptions should be handled using the group notifications feature and that the forum subscriptions have been depreciated (for now).

I would add that I'd like to see "Follow On" notifications for forums within groups. Essentially the same thing that happens with journal comments now....so if I start a thread or reply to an existing one I get a notification on all follow on replies automatically.

Thanks, Steven. I, too, would like to see notifications for replies. Right now, the group journal item notification just has a link to the default view for the group. I would like the notification (for both new topics as well as replies) to include a direct link to the post in the Discussions tab for the group. Is there a way to use the existing Group Journal Notification template to include a link directly to the post?

I guess what I'd really like to see is the same level of granularity for Active Social group discussion post notifications that exists in Active Forums, but with forum post templates specific to Active Social.

As I understand it we'll get this ability in 1.7.

I also suspect as AF moves closer to 5.0 we'll have more of that functionality designed to work natively within groups.

Thanks, Steven. Now you're just adding to my list of reasons I want AS 1.7 yesterday.

Wow I am glad I found this thread... I was looking all over to find the group forum email notification settings. AS 1.7...

We are seeing this in one of our forums on devcentral.com as well. We are running AS 1.8.2 and AF 4.2.7. Is there a fix in the works? Is there any manual fix for the broken forum topic hyperlink?

Also I do not see any settings for group notifications in the control panel for ActiveSocial 1.8.2. Where are they?
