    • Active Forums Version: 4.3.2
    • DotNetNuke Version: 5.5.1

    Hi all,

Running AF 4.3.3 (not 4.3.2 as is the nearest option on the dropdown here) on DNN 5.5.1, IIS7, .Net 4.0, integrated mode

I've got the required lines in my web config and have enable vanity URLs in the forum settings. This didn't seem to cause any change in forum URLs.

Then I read one of the KB articles on the subject and I think it's implying that vanity URLs are only created for new posts, so I've made a test post, but it still has the old URL.

I'm unsure now how to confirm whether it is working or not.. any ideas?
    Regards
    Rob

    Rob,

Have you added vanity names (IN the AF control panel - Forums) to your forum groups and forums? You need to do this for the vanity urls to work.

Chris is correct. If everything appears to be enabled under the Settings section of the control panel then the only other factor are the names for the forum group and forum.

Also, if you are using URL Master, make sure you check their Knowledge Base on how to exclude AF urls.

    Thanks for the replies guys,

I see those fields now and have added vanity names to a group and its forums. That started throwing errors, so then I removed the ampersand from the group name and it works fine... good stuff!

hmmm... I can see now that the field doesn't allow you to type illegal charcters in, but I had simply copied and pasted the forum group name from the field above and it does allow that... including spaces and amersands and all. That might need another check or a tooltip or something.

We will definitely make sure that is fixed for the next release. I assume a lot of people will prefer to copy and paste the forum name which will cause problems.

    Thanks,
    Will
